Six Audition: Colchester Junior Comp Team

Hello,

The Colchester Junior Competition will be starting a new vocal routine on Fridays.

We will be doing SIX from the Musical SIX.

I would like to give the girls the opportunity to practice their “audition techniques” and audition for the queens roles. Touching upon their wider professional practice, the students will have an opportunity to work on how to prepare for audition and be in an audition environment. I am aware that all students want to pursue dancing as a career but these audition techniques are easily passed over into interview techniques so hoping all students would benefit from this.

(Please note if students are not successful with getting a part of one of the queens they will still be in the piece as ensemble. There is plenty of ensemble participation.)

I do not want any child to feel discouraged if they don’t get a solo part this time. As well as that, it is completely optional and you do not need to feel obligated to audition for a solo part.

What to prepare for the audition?

Depending on the Queen you are auditioning for you will need to learn their solo section off copy with character you feel suits the queen. You will not need to dress as the queen. These will be closed auditions. Students will have the opportunity to come into the space and practice their conversation. Just like if they was to enter an audition or interview.
