What disciplines we cover
-
Modern
One of the foundations for any great dancer, the modern dance style is one of the more natural dance styles for beginners. It's fast, fun and energetic focusing on your flexibility and strength. These dance classes cover a broad range of styles; we do modern within musical theatre, contemporary modern which incorporates commercial techniques and we look at practitioners. We include practitioners within modern jazz such as Fosse, Mattox, Jerome Robbins, Brian Friedman and many more.
-
Tap
Our tap classes ensure that students are taught the importance of musicality, rhythm, syncopation, ankle strength, coordination and balance within the discipline. Moreover, the culture of tap is important for students to open their minds to different cultures and the influences they've had over dance styles.
-
Ballet (Pointe)
Traditional ballet shows inspire our ballet classes. Ballet is the foundation of so many dance styles; it is undoubtedly one of the hardest to perfect, but certainly one of the most rewarding. We offer a range of bar and centre work, training our students in strength, isolation and balance to acquire the poise needed throughout their performance work. We also teach character performance through ballet, enriching our students with traditional ballet techniques and performance.
-
Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Our Contemporary classes involve the study of various practitioners, including Graham and Cunningham, both masters of their art.
